Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring sugar compound found in our body. Hyaluronic acid (HA) helps maintain skin volume by attracting and binding water, giving the skin a smooth, plump appearance. However, with time, UV exposure and environmental factors, the hyaluronic acid in the skin diminishes and collagen breaks down causing fine lines and wrinkles to appear. Injectable HA acts like a sponge, attracting and binding water and therefore is an ideal substance to temporarily replace natural HA, reducing wrinkles and restoring the and firmness lost.
Dermal fillers are a gel like substance and vary in consistency with thin dermal fillers which flow easily, to thicker fillers which are firmer and last longer and provide more lift.
Jeunesse MedSpa® offers a wide variety of dermal fillers within Juvéderm® and Belotero® ranges, each suited to different applications. We will advise you on which dermal filler is best for you at the time of consultation. We use a combination of temporary fillers lasting from 6 to 24months.
At Jeunesse MedSpa® a safe and natural result is our prime goal for you. We do not advocate the use of permanent fillers as we believe that there is an increased risk of serious complications.
One of the reassuring safety features of all these hyaluronic acid fillers is that there is a substance called hyaluronidase that can very quickly reverse their effects should there be an undesirable effect e.g. lumps or undesirable effect.
The latest fillers at Jeunesse MedSpa® contain local anesthetic combine with the filler which significantly reduces the pain. The use of the other fillers that do not contain anaesthetic can be made more tolerable with the use of local anaesthetic cream to the treated area or a nerve block prior to injection (like what the dentist does). The dermal filler is then comfortably injected into the treated area to fill out the line, wrinkle or fold.
There is usually some transient redness after the injections. Swelling is also present after the procedure, especially with any lip enhancement procedure, which usually resolves in 24-48 hours.
Bruising can also occur, and if it does, it can take a week to heal. Make-up can be worn soon after treatment should there be a need, using a clean brush.
If you have a history of cold sores and the treatment area is around the mouth, then you should notify your treating doctor. You may be instructed to take anti-viral medications prior to treatment if this is the case.
Yes. Despite having different actions, they are commonly used together. In fact, anti-wrinkle injections often prolong the effect of dermal fillers. Anti-wrinkle injections relax the underlying muscle that causes expression lines, and dermal fillers provide volume to fill in static lines.
The cost of dermal fillers depends on the amount injected and the number of syringes injected per session. The charge per 1ml varies from $700 to $850
As a guide, lip enhancement and the correction of folds/lines around the mouth usually requires 1 to 2 syringes of filler , while cheek enhancement usually require 2 to 4 syringes of product. The entire face can also be treated to perform a ‘non-surgical facelift’ (cheek enhancement, jowls, tear troughs, brows, chin, nose, and naso-labial lines are all filled) and this usually requires 4 or more syringes.
